CSO Recommendations for the 17th AFML

The Philippine Migrants Rights Watch (PMRW) presents the recommendations given by civil society representatives at the 17th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour on November 13-14, 2024 in Vientiane, Lao PDR.

This year's theme, "Care Work and Labour Migration in ASEAN," explored how the ASEAN can meet its care needs through labor migration as well as enhance the protection and promotion of the rights of migrant care workers. Given the broad spectrum of care workers, specific measures are recommended to ensure their welfare while addressing the rising need of care workers across the region.

PMRW is one of the representatives of the Philippines to the AFML.

Migrants' Stories, Migrants' Voices 8

The Philippine Migrants Rights Watch (PMRW), with support from the '8xmille' funds from the Italian Catholic Church (CEI), launched the eighth volume of its book, “Migrants’ Stories, Migrants’ Voices.” It is a collection of stories of migrants, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and members of their families. It talks about the different faces of migration and the challenges migrants and members of their families had to go through abroad and in the Philippines. It speaks of how migrants faced the challenges of being in a foreign land and how families left behind coped with the absence of their family members. The unique feature of this volume is that it centered on the experiences of migrants and members of their families during the pandemic.
