Philippine Senate passes on third reading ILO C 189

The Philippine Senate on August 6, 2012 passed on Third Reading the resolution concurring in the ratification of ILO Convention 189 on Decent work for domestic workers. This makes the Philippines the second country, and the first in Asia, to ratify the said Convention. The Convention requires the ratification of two member-states to put it into force. Article 21 of the Convention provides that it shall come to force 12 months after the date on which the ratification of two member states have been registered with the Director-General of the ILO.
